Pediatric Lyme Disease Foundation
Lyme Disease became a major concern of the Kiwanis family when the NY District Kiwanis Governor of the 2000-2001 service year, John Gridley considered it a top priority to find a cure. Lyme Disease is caused by deer ticks and can cause damage to the brain if not treated immediately. The Lyme Disease Project was set up, however, most insurance companies do not cover the treatment of Lyme Disease so those diagnosed with it have a difficult time paying their medical expenses. With Kiwanis, the District has vowed to help find a cure for this often overlooked disease.
